Industria developed design documentation for key technological and power generation facilities as part of the construction of the Stora Enso Paper Mill in Ostrołęka. The project formed part of one of the largest industrial investments in the Polish paper sector.
The scope of work encompassed the preparation of structural building, tender, and executive designs, alongside architectural documentation for a complex of power and technological facilities supporting the plant’s operations. Industria was also responsible for overall multi-disciplinary coordination.
The cornerstone of the project was a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant with a thermal capacity of approximately 168 MW, featuring a steam turbine with an electrical output of 36 MW. The investment encompassed the design of a 56-meter-high boiler house, an electrical building, a steam turbine hall, a fan house, a water demineralization plant, and silo structures.
The project also covered fuel storage facilities and yards designed to service coal and biofuel-fired boilers. The infrastructure was complemented by technical facilities responsible for fuel preparation, transport, and feeding for energy processes.
A significant component of the undertaking was the design of a Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) building complete with a 110/15 kV transformer, as well as a pipe and cable rack spanning nearly a kilometer (946 meters). This structure enabled the transport of process media and the routing of power lines between various sections of the plant.
A key design challenge was coordinating large-scale industrial structures with diverse technological, energy, and logistical functions. The project required integrating high-rise structures, high-voltage electrical systems, and infrastructure supporting paper manufacturing processes.
