Industria developed comprehensive multi-disciplinary design documentation for the construction of the new Municipal Hospital in Gliwice. The investment encompassed the design of one of the largest newly planned healthcare complexes in Poland, integrating diagnostic, surgical, emergency, rehabilitative, and outpatient functions within a single medical campus.
Between 2019 and 2022, Industria prepared three concept variants for the hospital along with 3D renderings and cost analyses, followed by building and executive designs, interior design, a visual wayfinding system, demolition designs, cost estimation documentation, as well as all necessary approvals and administrative decisions. The scope also included project execution guidelines, traffic management schemes, and complete site development.
The centerpiece of the investment was the main hospital building, with a total usable floor area exceeding 50,700 m² and a gross volume of over 225,000 m³. The facility was designed as a modern multi-specialty hospital with 356 hospital beds, including 17 intensive care stations for adult and pediatric patients.
The building layout incorporates an Emergency Department (ED), an operating suite, and wards for general surgery, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, pediatrics, and urology. The design also features specialized outpatient clinics, diagnostic areas, outpatient consultation rooms, and the supporting infrastructure required for the operation of the entire complex.
An integral part of the investment comprised technical buildings responsible for medical gas distribution, water management, fire protection, medical waste handling, and emergency power systems. The design also included a helipad for Polish Medical Air Rescue (LPR), an extensive road network, parking facilities, and full technical utility infrastructure.
Special emphasis was placed on technological solutions. The project incorporated advanced medical gas systems, hygienic ventilation installations for operating rooms, comprehensive security systems, ICT infrastructure, and a photovoltaic installation exceeding 930 kWp in capacity. The facility was also equipped with redundant back-up power supply systems and extensive UPS systems for medical equipment and critical infrastructure.
A central challenge was coordinating a vast array of technical and medical systems within a single facility. The project required seamless integration of architecture, structural engineering, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), telecommunications, and medical technology while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational continuity.
Industria managed full interdisciplinary coordination across all engineering fields, creating a cohesive environment for modern healthcare delivery. The result of these efforts was a comprehensive hospital design meeting contemporary standards for medicine, energy efficiency, as well as patient and staff comfort.
