Metropolitan Station

Photovoltaic panels manufactured entirely in Poland, designed by engineers from Industria’s group companies Iplusmed and Fibrain were utilized as:

  • A translucent roofing material featuring high aesthetic qualities
  • An element generating electrical power from sunlight
  • A component providing station lighting and illumination using LED technology
  • A system for de-icing and defrosting the glass roof structure during winter, enabled by patented magnetron sputtering of minerals onto the glass pane
  • An application of Fibrain’s light-dispersing glass to enhance solar energy yield and electrical power output

These innovations not only achieved solutions with unique aesthetic appeal, but also enabled the optimization of engineering solutions for the structural steel elements, which represent another hallmark of this development.

The entire photovoltaic installation has a total capacity exceeding 200 kW, fully covering the electricity demand of the Metropolitan Station while allowing surplus power to be fed back into the distribution grid.

A unique component of the system is a proprietary digital energy management system provided by 7Willows, a company within the Industria group. Thanks to its de novo developed system architecture, it represents the market’s first user-supplied hardware solution, thereby enhancing the cyber-security of the installation. Furthermore, it enables future expansion to operate under dynamic energy tariffs and allows for the integration of energy storage to increase the self-consumption rate of the Metropolitan Station in Lublin.
