A two-stage execution architectural competition for the concept of a new complex for the Podkarpackie Children’s Health Center at the St. Queen Hedvig Clinical Provincial Hospital No. 2 in Rzeszów.
The shaping of the building’s massing was guided by the centralization of key hospital units forming the so-called “hot floor” – namely: the Pediatric Emergency Department, Pediatric Operating Suite, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging Department, and the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD). These were situated in close proximity to the existing hospital buildings, connecting them via vertical circulation to the helipad and via connecting walkways to the individual inpatient wards. Two compact volumes designated for hospitalized patients (western and central) were spatially separated from the volume intended for outpatient care (eastern).
Net floor area: 33,471.67 m²
Above-ground levels: 4–5
